Again in September 2004, I went away to spend my birthday traveling around some part of Europe, and this time, I decided upon the following destinations.

• Budapest (Hungary)
• Bratislava (Slovakia)
• Vienna (Austria)
• Salzburg (Austria)

This was to become a very special trip for me, as not only was I going to visit my friend Manuela Steiner, who I met and traveled with for a while in New Zealand but I was to meet a very dear friend of mine, one that has helped me through some very hard times recently....her name is Anca Vraniantu.

Anca is from Romania and I met her at Budapest Train Station, when I asked her for help with my train ticket, as it was all in Hungarian and couldn't even work out what platform it was leaving from. Anca was also getting the same train and escorted me to the correct platform. We chatted and got to know each other over the course of the 3 hour train journey and when I told her that I was going to stay in the youth hostel, she said that she wouldn't have it as it was miles outside the town, and offered to put me up for a few days, which I very gratefully took. Anca was then my tour guide for the following 4 days before I had to leave for Vienna. Anca and I have remained very close friends ever since and is now living in Vienna, Austria along with her boyfriend, who she was visiting for the weekend when we met.
